The Brick Goes Green

The Brick Goes Green

The Brick is always dedicated to saving you more! Whether it’s a great deal on a new sofa, or cutting our greenhouse gas emissions, we work tirelessly each year to save BIG any way we can.

In 2007, Project Green was introduced! With the goal of having an immediate positive impact on the environment, The Brick has set the stage for retailers across Canada, becoming a leader in environmental sustainability.

By keeping our waste in check, we can keep costs low and continue to offer great prices on household products you know and love.

In 2020, our stores, corporate office, and distribution centres diverted 78% of company waste, saving 1,280 metric tons of recyclable materials.

What does 78% mean?

It means we saved 42,477 trees!
That’s enough timber to produce 637,155,000 sheets of paper that can be used in schools and workplaces across the country.

It means we conserved 28,938 cubic yards of landfill space
saving the valuable land for municipal waste instead.

It means we avoided 21,281 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions!

It means we saved 23,588,023 gallons of water,
enough to meet the daily water needs of more than 10,000 Canadians.

It means 14,409,605 kilowatts of electricity
can be used to power homes instead of our stores and warehouses.

It means The Brick is passionate about maintaining our planet for generations to come and saving you more.

Fun fact!

Since 2017, The Brick has planted 886 trees across Canada! Thanks to our partners at Tree Canada, we have helped re-establish urban and rural forests, increase the number of trees in schoolyards, and grow orchards to create a more sustainable planet for the future.
